ABOUT DANIEL GARRIDO

I am a Senior Scientific Software Engineer who builds the infrastructure necessary for modern, AI driven drug discovery. My career has evolved through technical roles across Finance, Travel, Fintech, TV Analytics and Pharma, giving me a broad perspective on designing reliable systems that handle complex data. While my earlier background was rooted in systems and IT, my work over the last several years at Exscientia and Recursion has focused on bridging the gap between experimental science and software engineering. This has given me deep experience in chemical registration, lab automation, LIMS, and the data quality requirements of modern discovery environments. I focus on building resilient backend systems and microservices that scale with growing data demands. I specialise in automating the movement of data from lab instruments into analysis ready formats that support scientific decision making. I actively leverage LLM powered coding agents and agentic workflows, both to accelerate my own development and to build autonomous pipelines within research environments. I bring engineering rigour from various industries to help accelerate the discovery of new medicines. I\'ve worked across enough industries to know that the hardest problems are rarely purely technical. In drug discovery, the real challenge is building systems that scientists trust enough to rely on. That means understanding their workflows, speaking their language, and engineering solutions that treat data quality as a scientific concern and not just an IT one.
