ABOUT GARRETT PORTLAND
I am a fourth-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing student at the University of Virginia, set to graduate in May 2025, with a specialization in pediatric and women’s health. My hands-on experience in the pediatric unit at UVA Hospital has deepened my passion for supporting children and their families. In addition to this clinical work, I serve as a teaching assistant for Pharmacology I and II, guiding third-year nursing students, and as a Clinical Coach on the pediatrics unit, where I foster collaborative learning environments. My roles as an assistant school nurse and teacher at Trailblazer and Rama Road Elementary have further enriched my experience by allowing me to support at-risk children. With over 700 hours of diverse clinical experience, I have honed strong leadership and organizational skills while effectively managing my coursework. As the Marketing Chair for Pancakes for Parkinson’s and Event Director for my sorority, I actively engage with my community and demonstrate my commitment to service. I look forward to connecting with healthcare professionals and exploring entry-level nursing opportunities where I can make a meaningful impact in patient care.
