I am currently a Senior Specialist - Software Development at Nasdaq (Verafin) and an Adjunct Assistant Professor working with the Faculty of Computer Science at Dalhousie University. At Nasdaq, our team designs algorithms to detect fraud and perform anti-money laundering analysis for banks and credit unions. Prior to this, I served as CEO and CTO of a SMB started at the Genesis Centre (the business incubation facility at Memorial University of Newfoundland) which provided equities analysis software to proprietary traders; the company was sold in 2015. Previously, I held postdoctoral fellowships at Memorial University in co-operation with Verafin and the Canadian Department of Fisheries and Oceans. I have worked in the field of artificial intelligence, evolutionary computation, and machine learning and published numerous papers and book chapters on both machine learning in general and its application to financial analysis.
