ABOUT GARIMA KAUSHAL
I started in architecture, drawn to the idea of designing spaces. But along the way, I realised what really fascinated me wasn’t just how we build, it was what we build for. Who benefits? Who gets left behind? And how can cities be reimagined for a future where cooling, energy, and comfort aren’t just privileges but essentials? That led me to where I am now, working at the intersection of climate advocacy, digital strategy, and sustainability communications to make the conversation around urban resilience impossible to ignore. At Centre for Science and Environment, I lead outreach for campaigns on renewable energy, thermal comfort, and decarbonising the built environment. Take Cool It! a campaign that reached 3.2 million people, drove 54K+ report downloads, and pushed forward a conversation India urgently needs to have. How do we cool our cities without making the climate crisis worse? Beyond digital strategy, my work spans researching heat-resilient urban planning, analysing cooling technologies, and organising high-impact industry engagements that bring policymakers, architects, and sustainability leaders into the same room. Before this, I worked in PR, shaping the narratives of India’s most ambitious sustainable projects, including the country’s first Net-Zero Energy Building. I believe climate solutions aren’t just technical, they are cultural, political, and deeply human. That’s why I’m always looking to connect with those working in climate-tech, policy advocacy, and sustainability communications to exchange ideas, challenge assumptions, and move towards a future where sustainability isn’t an afterthought, it is the default.
