About Amit Garg

I have spent over three decades building, scaling, and learning from organizations; always with one question in mind: how can learning transform performance and people?In 2004, I founded Upside Learning and spent 20 years shaping it into one of the leading players in its space, before exiting in August 2024. What began as a scratch-built startup grew into an award-winning company recognized internationally for innovation and impact. For me, the proudest milestone was not just the global recognition or the 59x returns we delivered to our angel investors, but being certified as a Great Place to Work five years in a row (2019–2024). Culture mattered as much as outcomes.Two decades of building the organization gave me an education richer than any textbook:The grind and grit of startup building.The responsibility of shaping HR and culture.Hands-on exposure to finance, investments, international sales, marketing, and operations.The joy of experimenting with new ideas; even venturing into podcasting.But what mattered most was seeing young professionals grow into fine managers and leaders, and knowing I had played even a small part as a mentor along their way.Before Upside Learning, I had close to nine years across varied roles: another e-learning startup, automobile sales with General Motors and Maruti Suzuki, and even time on the shop floor at Chambal Fertilizers. Each role taught me what works, what fails, and what it takes to adapt across very different organizational setups.Across all of it, one belief has stayed constant: businesses grow when people do. And learning is the lever that makes both possible.
