ABOUT GARETH BOWKER

A technologist at heart, I’ve focused on information security in the payments space for around 20 years. An effective communicator, I am equally at ease discussing strategy at an executive level, or reviewing firewall rulesets with IT staff. I’ve had a broad and varied career, initially as a software developer, but quickly moving into information security and penetration testing, then conducting PCI DSS security assessments of merchants and service providers, as well as assessing Visa- and Mastercard-authorised card production facilities for those payment brands.For the last 12½ years, I’ve worked for PCI SSC, initially developing and delivering, then directing their technical training worldwide, and latterly ensuring the security of their operations infrastructure, and developing the technical requirements for their online payments acceptance. I have also presented at several PCI SSC Community Meetings, as well as answering technical questions from the payments community at online and in-person Assessor Sessions.My skills include technology leadership, people management, payment card industry standards and compliance, web security, computer security, infrastructure implementation project management, and risk management. I have held a CISSP since 2006, and was previously a PCI QSA, and PCI PA-QSA until I joined PCI SSC.I am always open to connecting with professionals in related industries, but please do not use it as an immediate sales opportunity.
