ABOUT GARETH WILLIAMS
I specialise in biotechnology-related patent work. My patent practice includes inventions relating to genome editing, therapeutic antibodies and proteins, stem cells, pharmaceutical formulations, genetically modified organisms, diagnostic and screening methods, and research tools. I have been working as a patent attorney since 1998, and have been a partner at Marks & Clerk since 2004. As well as filing and prosecution of patent applications worldwide, I have extensive experience of attending hearings at the European Patent Office. My practice also involves advising on patent term extension, infringement matters and general intellectual property strategy.I have also acted as a representative in patent litigation before the UPC, including in connection with provisional measures, revocation, infringement, and appeal cases.I provide freedom to operate and other due diligence reports on complex IP portfolios for clients considering investing in or acquiring IP assets.Currently also head of legal practice for Marks & Clerk LLP; and a director of PAMIA providing insurance for the patent and trade mark profession.
