My role has two main components that help Drax deliver their commitment to be amongst the world’s first carbon removal companies. Firstly, I lead on establishing the science and evidence that underpin the sustainability of the CCS elements of the BECCS value chain. This involves in-house research, commissioning external work and keeping fully abreast of the sustainability science and evidence around all forms of CDR in a rapidly evolving market. I also sit on the advisory boards and steering committees for a number of international projects and organisations in this space. Secondly, with our Global BECCS development team I help to ensure Drax delivers projects that create positive outcomes for people, nature and the climate. This includes on the ground and desk-based assessments of our development plans as well as developing internal policy and guidelines that respond to stakeholder demands and the evolving sustainability landscape.
