As Executive Director of Colorado Safe Haven for Newborns, I lead our statewide mission to increase awareness and understanding of Colorado’s Safe Haven Law. This law allows a parent to legally and safely relinquish their newborn at a hospital, fire station, or emergency medical center—confidentially and without fear of prosecution—providing a secure option during a time of crisis.I oversee strategic planning, program development, and organizational operations while building partnerships with healthcare professionals, first responders, legislators, and community organizations. Our work focuses on training designated Safe Haven locations, distributing official signage, and ensuring that staff at these sites are prepared to respond with compassion, consistency, and care.Key responsibilities include-Leading outreach and public education efforts to reach all 64 counties across Colorado-Advocating for policy improvements that enhance clarity, access, and safety under the law-Developing collaborative partnerships to expand access to mental health resources-Coordinating our annual fundraising gala and overseeing donor and grant engagement-Ensuring alignment with state agencies and community health initiativesTo date, our efforts have supported the safe relinquishment of 96 newborns in Colorado. I’m proud to guide a nonpartisan, community-focused organization committed to awareness, education, and safe outcomes for infants and families.
