ABOUT GAMAL WARETH
I am a veterinary scientist and microbiologist specializing in zoonotic and bacterial infectious diseases. I serve as a Senior Scientist at the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut (FLI) in Jena, Germany, where I head several laboratories, including the National Reference Laboratory for Anthrax and laboratories for bacterial biological agents, listeriosis, and multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria.My research focuses on pathogens at the animal–human interface, particularly Bacillus anthracis, Brucella spp, and ESKAPE pathogens. I apply molecular epidemiology, advanced diagnostics, genomic characterization, and antimicrobial resistance analysis within a One Health framework.I have authored more than 90 peer-reviewed publications, contributing substantially to veterinary and public health research.
