ABOUT GAIL KASTNING
I’m the founder and owner of Purposeful Careers - a learning design company that specializes in the design and delivery of career and business training for non-traditional workers. Non-traditional workers include independent workers like freelancers, contractors, consultants who are self-employed or employees who are not full-time, permanent workers, but are casual, seasonal, or flex-part-time employees. My business story? I have been an independent worker for over 20 years and during this time, I struggled to find the career and business support that met my unique needs…so I decided to design it myself. Today, I hire independent workers such as project managers, career specialists, educators, and instructional designers to work on learning design and delivery projects. Together, we specialize in the innovative design and delivery of career and business support for workers like us, a unique client group. More About Us In 2023, we launched the Branch Out™ Workshop Series with funding from the Government of Alberta working in partnership with the Government of Canada to provide employment support programs and services. This unique pilot project gathered much needed data on the needs of non-traditional workers in Alberta, supported Albertans in exploring flexible work options and helped them set up for freelancing, contracting and consulting. We are excited to launch our on-line courses and digital learning products in the fall of 2025. Our courses will offer learners the opportunity to fit our training into their busy schedules. We also partner with associations, post-secondary institutions, and service providers interested in providing career or professional development training for their staff or clients. We want to build knowledge and skills in navigating the flexible work options that non-traditional work offers. Finally, we have a passion and a knack for creating effective and beautifully designed learning products that inspire career and business learning. For more information, visit our website at
