ABOUT GAIL BATES
I am an experienced psychiatrist and retired Navy and Air Force veteran with a passion for patient care, problem solving, and new opportunities to learn and grow as a human being and a professional. I enjoy my flexibility as a private contractor, which has allowed me the ability to provide telemedicine to veteran populations as well as in-person inpatient care in community settings, as I continue traveling and connecting with new people and interesting challenges along the way. I am fortunate and grateful to be doing what I love. I am skilled in, but also very much enjoy, caring for those with substance use disorders, PTSD, bipolar disorder and psychotic illnesses, ADHD, depression and anxiety. My military career gave me unique opportunities and challenges in navigating treatment needs and upholding patient autonomy while maintaining a keen eye on safety and supporting the military mission. Understanding human and system components of an organization, as well as the interplay has been a necessity and an acquired skill that has helped me adapt to new environments in our ever-changing medical care landscape.
