As an academic, Gabriel has taught Design across its three macro-levels; Design Operations (process, conceptualization, synthesis and technical applications), Design Management and Design Leadership at the University of Botswana. Gabriel has undertaken research studies focused on the design perspective on business innovation and strategic design for competitive advantage and economic development in the Botswana, United States and the UK, and various design collaborations in Botswana, Brazil, Kenya, Russia, UK, United States, South Africa and South Korea. He has presented various papers in International Design Conferences such as the ‘Kenya International Design Conference’ (KIDEC) 2009, the South African ‘Design Policy Conference: Make a Plan’ 2014, where he was also a panelist in discussions on the application of strategic design for businesses transformation and economic development for African nations.
