About Gabrielle Westbrook

Gabrielle is a dynamic international educator whose transformative impact with scholars resonates worldwide. She embarked upon her teaching career in the cradle of education reform, Washington, D.C, where standards-based instruction became a cornerstone of her teaching philosophy. She later transitioned to Beijing, China, one of America\'s foremost competitors in educational excellence, where she created engaging, humanities curricula for English language learners to improve their English language and literature skills, expand their worldview, and develop their critical thinking skills.Gabrielle’s work, domestically and abroad, centers on three key objectives: empowering teachers through professional support, fostering strong and nurturing school cultures, and enhancing student efficacy by nurturing the whole child. Gabrielle\'s commitment to these principles continues to inspire and elevate educational standards across diverse learning environments.Having served in several educational capacities, Gabrielle made her most notable mark internationally as the principal of Olive International School in Beijing, China. In this role, she effectively managed a staff of over 25 members during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, coordinating operations across two hemispheres, three continents, four countries, and five time zones. Since returning to the United States, Gabrielle has worked primarily at Memphis College Prep, serving as a Director of Curriculum and Instruction, an instructional ELA coach, and a teacher. Gabrielle has grounded her work in providing instructional support to educators and equipping young minds with the tools they need to have bright and successful futures. Gabrielle\'s core beliefs about education are- strong teachers develop strong students- all children can learn- exposure is key, and- relationships are foundational. She holds strongly to her teaching philosophy that, “Children don’t care what you know until they know that you care.” As her professional journey expands her sphere of influence, she has broadened this adage to,\"People don\'t care what you know until they know that you care.\"
