About Gabrielle Smith
I am a Seattle native with a love for the Pacific Northwest. I am pursuing a BA in Environmental Policy through the department of Urban and Environmental Planning and Policy as well as minors in Food Security & Policy, Economics, and Honors Interdisciplinary Studies at Western Washington University. I am the President of WWU Best Buddies, a chapter of an international 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the inclusion of those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. I have proudly been a part of this organization since 2020 and in the summer of 2024 attended the Best Buddies Leadership Conference to represent my WWU chapter on the international level. I am the Vice President of Operations for WWU DECA, a chapter of an international organization working to prepare young adults for life in the professional sphere through business competitions. I qualified for the state competition in 2020 for Entrepreneurship, in 2022 for Marketing, and again in 2023 for Marketing in high school. At the collegiate level, I participate in Sales Management & Leadership and in 2024 placed 3rd, and in 2025 placed 10th at the international level.Outside of my education, extracurriculars, and work experience I enjoy cooking and spending time in nature. I am grateful for my home here in the PNW for it\'s rich environmental history and access, which has inspired my passion for environmentalism and plan to pursue a career in environmental law.

Developed Urban and Environmental Planning and Policy (UEPP) Peer Mentoring Program by matching upperclassmen mentors with underclassmen mentees, serving 20+ new and current UEPP students. Created UEPP events by coordinating 10+ student pairs, resulting in greater visibility for program. Increased visibility for the program by maintaining program email and social media platforms through utilization of Microsoft 365, Canva, and Instagram.
