ABOUT GABRIELA GONJON

Gabriela Gonjon is an interdisciplinary explorer. Gabriela is motivated by living life like a “what if” sentence. She is experienced in peer leadership, public speaking and design thinking not only in the architectural sense, in a variety of forms including entrepreneurship. Due to her experience with severe eczema she developed an awareness for how the weather, stress, food, clothing materials, air pollution, and long term medication use positively and negatively affects the body long term. She was selected by her college to become a University of Innovation fellow at Stanford University and complete a course at Stanford\'s Design School to learn and experience more how to become a changemaker in society. She represented Stanford’s Design School course nationally at Ashoka U’s Conference in San Diego California and represented her university in Dubai, United Arab Emirates Innovation Fellow’s conference. Gabriela became president of her City College chapter of National Organization for Minority Architects. Where she pursued providing career education to her peers by creating events and partnerships with Diamond Schmitt Architects and Fx collaborative for student and professional mentorship programs. She worked with Dean Bradely Horn and created the school wide concept “Our Hour” at Spitzer School of Architecture during the COVID pandemic to allow professors and students to have an hour to communicate personal and societal ideas and feelings that impact our academic careers. Lastly during her presidency she created an ‘Architecture Olympics’ at The Center For Architecture in collaboration with NOMAS Pratt inviting students and professionals from across NYC to compete. In order to continue her main mission of creating a healthy environment to decrease autoimmune diseases she grows her technical knowledge as an adventurous intern. She interned this past summer in healthcare at HOK for Rutgers Cancer Research Institute. Last year she interned in 2021 as an urban designer for Seattle’s Sound Transit and place making with ZGF to create a better walkable and cleaner environment. This year she is interning at School Construction Authority to create good lifecycle cost management, with the director Mi Zhang, by learning and developing solutions for directors and project managers to make their job easier and faster.
