ABOUT GABRIELA CHIRILA

I am a sustainability and compliance professional specialising in the interpretation and practical application of complex UK and EU regulatory requirements across timber/manufacturing supply chains. My work sits at the intersection of sustainability, compliance, product regulation and business strategy - translating evolving frameworks into clear, practical actions that help organisations prepare for change with confidence. In my role at Metsä Wood, I support the business in understanding what new and emerging requirements mean in practice — not only from a compliance perspective, but also operationally, commercially and strategically. My work includes responsible sourcing, FSC/PEFC Chain of Custody, EUDR preparedness, supply chain due diligence, stakeholder engagement and wider sustainability readiness.I am particularly interested in the role of regulation as a driver of business transformation. Much of my work involves reading between the lines of policy and compliance developments, identifying the real implications for business, and cutting through ambiguity to make proportionate, credible decisions.Aim to always mix analytical depth with practical decision-making & turning complexity into direction and helping organisations navigate sustainability requirements in a way that is both grounded and forward-looking.
