Many of my clients come to treatment because their mental health has started to impact their functionality at home or at work. Often, they\'ve just tried working harder to compensate but this leads to a vicious cycle of burnout. It\'s ultimately not about working to achieve a goal. It\'s about the processes of exploring who you really are, seeking authenticity, & going beyond your emotional comfort zone. Maybe this means increasing your self care and coping skills. I have worked closely with Silicon Valley professionals/executives both in my private practice and contracted with major tech companies. Both personally and professionally, I deeply understand the impact of workplace stress, the difficulty of protecting work/life balance and the unique pressures to achieve we experience in the Bay Area. Anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and even trauma reactions can result from this. I help such clients recover, rebuild and maintain mental health.I began my career working with kids but quickly came to understand the importance of addressing parents\' stress in the process. As a result, my clients tend to be tech workers (inc managers and executives), their children and their families. In addition to my clinical work, I have been a long-time university lecturer and a contributor for Psychology Today.Much of my role in treatment is helping clients find answers which are already within themselves. I am trained in conducting evaluations for workplace accommodations or disabilities due to mental illness for FMLA and temporary disability insurance.(And as a former HR professional I have a unique insight into documentation requirements for the Leave of Absence process). In addition, I am available for speaking engagements and professional consultation, including expert witness analysis and some pro bono work for mental health, social, and educational advocacy.
