About Gabriel Shimizu
From a young age, I’ve always had the dream to design and build a house that I would one day live in. Since the inception of that aspiration, I’ve tailored my education and career to set myself up in achieving that goal.That goal has led me to pursuing an education at Loyola Marymount University where I eventually graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Civil Engineering. Prior to graduating, I was fortunate to be able to explore the world of general contracting as an intern with a top GC in the nation. From that opportunity, I was able to determine that this is the correct career path for me.I spent a few months as a project engineer in the field before transitioning into the pre-construction department as an estimator. Majority of my professional career has been spent as a senior estimator and assistant preconstruction manager, where I’ve obtained knowledge of cost estimating and how to pursue and win work. I’ve successfully led teams on project pursuits for various hard bids and design-build projects. In addition to developing and exhibiting leadership skills on pursuits, I’ve completed numerous concrete estimates for self-perform work.In my company, I serve as one of the training committee members for the estimator/senior estimator peer group.
