About Gabriel Mendoza
I am a senior at Duke University pursuing a B.S. in Computer Science and Economics, with a focus on software engineering, data-driven energy solutions, and sustainability. This past summer, I worked as a Software Engineer Intern for Duke Facilities Management through the Code+ program, where I built a predictive occupancy dashboard using WiFi and CO₂ data models. Our work helped reduce energy consumption in the Bostock Building by 15% by improving HVAC efficiency. I am currently a Project Analyst at REV Energy Ventures, where I am developing the Green Button App to streamline utility data sharing for solar, storage, and EV charger installations, ensuring compliance with California’s energy regulations. Recently, my team won HackDuke’s Sustainability Track with Sunlight Savings, a web application that uses the Google Solar API to help North Carolina property owners assess solar panel investments. I also developed Project Bussin’, a full-stack food review app using React, Node.js, and Supabase to help users discover culturally significant restaurants.
