ABOUT GABBY AHMADIA
I\'m a marine scientist and conservation leader passionate about creating effective and equitable solutions for ocean conservation. As Vice President of Area-Based Conservation at WWF-US, I lead global efforts to design and support area-based conservation, community-driven initiatives, and sustainable fisheries management.Over the past 15+ years, I’ve worked across the Coral Triangle, Coastal East Africa, and the Pacific—collaborating with local communities, researchers, and policymakers to strengthen the resilience of coastal ecosystems. My approach blends scientific rigor with deep local partnerships, ensuring conservation strategies are not only grounded in evidence but also centered on people.I hold a Ph.D. in Coastal and Marine Systems Science and am committed to shifting power dynamics in global conservation—championing inclusive practices and elevating voices that have too often been left out of the conversation.
