ABOUT FRANÇOIS-XAVIER FX DUPAS

Composer | Creative Director | Mentor | EntrepreneurCrafting iconic sound worlds where tradition meets innovation.I grew up in a world where computers, video game consoles, and classical music were part of daily life, a strange and fertile ground for what would become a lifelong obsession with sound, structure, and storytelling. At 15, jazz and metal took over my headphones and my heart, alongside my ongoing classical training, which led to five First Prizes at the Conservatory in France. I later pursued university studies that deepened my curiosity for ethnomusicology, electronic music, and orchestration.As a composer, I draw on jazz, classical, and electronic roots, mixing live ensembles with expressive electronic instruments (modular synths, MPE) and exploring traditional music cultures from across the globe. I’m passionate about hybridizing genres to create unique, emotionally resonant soundscapes. My work has been featured in major franchises like League of Legends, Star Trek, Dungeons & Dragons, and Squid Game, as well as indie titles like Ultimate Chicken Horse and Tribes of Midgard.In addition, interactivity has always been central to how I think about music. It began with improvisation and grew into a fascination with nonlinear structures, both in game audio and concert music. I see music as a living system: responsive, dynamic, and deeply shaped by context.After moving to Montreal, I co-founded Vibe Avenue with Mathieu Lavoie, a studio dedicated to immersive, emotionally resonant audio. While completing my doctorate and teaching at the university, we built Vibe Avenue into one of Canada’s top audio providers for games and media.
