ABOUT FUSEINI Y. DAWUDA

AboutI am a dynamic and results-driven Facilities Management (FM) professional with over 15 years of experience gained from working with some of the world’s leading FM companies and professionals. My career spans multiple sectors, including education, finance, and leisure—where I have consistently delivered operational excellence, innovation, and customer satisfaction through a people-centred and quality-driven approach. As an academic practitioner, my passion lies in exploring the intersection between building design, usability, health, and cleanability. I am currently researching the emerging concept of ‘cleanability’, which examines how design decisions influence the hygiene, efficiency, and dignity of the built environment. This research forms the foundation of my forthcoming book, Cleanability: Designing for Dignity and Maintenance, which reimagines how facilities management can bridge design, functionality, and human well-being.I am also finalizing \"The Whisper of Brooms\", a reflective work that explores the unseen labour, philosophy, and quiet heroism of cleaners—the people who hold the world together, often without recognition.Beyond FM, my professional and academic interests extend to microfinance, poverty alleviation, gender, and social inclusion, informed by years of research and fieldwork on women’s empowerment and sustainable development in Africa. I believe that both development and FM share a core truth: they are about people—their dignity, safety, and lived experience within the spaces they inhabit.Core Competencies & SpecialtiesFacilities Management: Cleaning Operations, Health & Safety, Risk Assessment, Site Audits, Specification Design, Performance ManagementCertifications: NEBOSH, IOSH Managing Safely, IOSH Leading SafelyLeadership & Development: Team Building, Mentoring, Training, Negotiation, Professional Ethics, Human Resource ManagementResearch & Development Practice: Advanced Qualitative Research, Project Development & Management, Impact AssessmentsDevelopment Studies Expertise: Microfinance, Gender & Development, Social Inclusion/Exclusion, HIV/AIDS & Development, Development Economics, Gender BudgetingCurrent Research Focus: Cleanability and its implications for design, hygiene, and dignity in FM practice
