About Furqan Nanji

Furqan Nanji practices patent prosecution at Artegis Law. Responsibilities include: preparing and prosecuting U.S. utility and continuing patent applications over a wide range of technologies, editing and filing patents drafted by overseas clients, performing supplemental counseling during prosecution of foreign counterparts, conducting interviews and drafting appeal and reply briefs before the PTAB (and BPAI).Prior to Artegis, Furqan prosecuted patents at Murabito, Hao & Barnes for over a decade. Before switching over to patent prosecution, Furqan litigated at Reed Smith LLP where he focused his practice on patent litigation involving wireless technologies, and networking protocols. At Reed Smith, Furqan was the primary architect of non-infringement and invalidity defenses for a joint defense group in a patent infringement case against the Wi-Fi industry. He was also the primary associate involved in all aspects of discovery on a patent infringement lawsuit against Wi-Fi chipmakers.Before Reed Smith, Furqan was the sole IP Counsel at Gracenote where he managed the company\'s patent portfolio and oversaw all matters related to IP litigation. In his capacity as IP counsel, Furqan contributed to drafting patent applications and claims, conducted due diligence and freedom to operate analyses, managed the prosecution of both the domestic and foreign patent portfolio, and influenced the direction of the company\'s patent portfolio growth.Prior to Gracenote, Furqan was an associate in the intellectual property department of Kirkland\'s San Francisco office. At Kirkland he focused his practice on patent infringement litigation involving telecommunications equipment and methods. At Kirkland, Furqan worked on all aspects of patent cases including pleadings, fact discovery, expert discovery, and dispositive motions. Before attending law school, Mr. Nanji worked as an engineer in the areas of digital logic design, design verification, synthesis, simulation, custom memory and analog circuit design.
