About Frederik Emil Seehusen
Emil Seehusen is a Danish architect with more than seven years of professional practice experience and a graduate of the Southern California Institute of Architecture (2021) and the Royal Danish Academy (2010). Emil worked for Foster and Partners in London (part 3, qualified architect, 20••••13) on several high-profile projects, especially within housing, retail, and mixed-use developments. Subsequently, Emil worked with private and commercial clients, designing houses, and retail and commercial spaces in London, Copenhagen, and Paris (20••••20). Through these different positions, he gained significant design experiences and substantial knowledge of liaising and delivering drawings and documentation to consultants, planning authorities, and contractors. In addition, he is a qualified architect in the UK and Denmark, with substantial experience providing planning permission documentation.Alongside professional practice, Emil engages in architectural speculation through research and educational activities. He has been an Associate Teaching Professor at the Royal Danish Academy and a Research Fellow at the Southern California Institute of Architecture. He has taught and led bachelor\'s and master\'s degree programs at the Royal Danish Academy and have been head of a Master\'s program. In addition, Emil is developing an emerging research field which examines new possibilities for sharing architectural studio praxis\' and forms of digital collaborations. Projects include digital-first partnerships between student-researchers and leading architectural institutions across the Global North/South. Emil Seehusen\'s philanthropic work includes aiding in delivering free education and the development of a bachelor\'s program in architecture in Somaliland. In addition, Emil is currently engaged in a research initiative on affordable housing in East Africa in collaboration with SCI-Arc.
