Fred Rivera is the CEO & Founder of Rivera Group, a strategic sports business advisory firm, and serves as Special Assistant to the Seattle Mariners. He previously held the role of Executive Vice President & General Counsel for the Mariners, where he was part of the senior leadership team and led legal, government affairs, and community engagement efforts, as well as key business initiatives in real estate development and external relations. He also served on the board of ROOT Sports, the Club’s regional sports network.With more than three decades of experience as a corporate executive, board director, and attorney, Fred has led high-performing teams across industries—from professional sports and federal government to major law firms. He is known for his strategic thinking, collaborative leadership, and unwavering commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.Fred currently serves on the boards of Heritage Bank (NASDAQ: HFWA) and Delta Dental of Washington, and chairs the Governance & Nominations Committees for both businesses. His previous leadership includes Managing Partner of Perkins Coie’s Seattle office, where he led the largest law firm office in the Pacific Northwest with multiple Fortune 500 clients, and Vice President in the Compliance & Ethics group at Fannie Mae.Fred is active in the community, having held board and leadership positions with the United Way of King County (Past Chair), Rainier Scholars, Downtown Seattle Association, Association of Washington Businesses, Legal Foundation of Washington, Latina/o Bar Association of Washington (Past President), and Hispanic National Bar Association.His contributions have been recognized widely: in 2022, the Puget Sound Business Journal named him a “Director of the Year,” and in 2023, California State University, Northridge honored him with its Distinguished Alumni Award.
