Frederick Isasi is the executive director of Families USA (FUSA), the nation’s premier nonprofit, nonpartisan health care advocacy organization working to ensure that all families receive high-quality, affordable, consumer-centered health care. At FUSA, Isasi advances a pragmatic and intersectional policy agenda for achieving better health at lower costs and reducing systemic inequities in the American health system. Isasi’s advocacy and coalition-building centers around critical health issues such as prescription drug pricing, medicaid expansion, equity, and maternal and child health. He leads efforts to protect and strengthen the Affordable Care Act, Medicaid, Medicare, the Children\'s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and Oral Health for all. Isasi also spearheaded the No Surprises: People Against Unfair Medical Bills campaign, bringing together diverse multi-sector partners representing consumers, patients, and workers to urge Congress to act immediately to ban surprise medical bills and other unfair pricing practices. Isasi established FUSA’s National Center for Coverage Innovation (NCCI) to help state and federal policymakers and consumer leaders develop and implement innovative approaches to expand and improve health care coverage. Isasi also established and leads FUSA’s Center on Health Equity Action for System Transformation. The Center is the only national entity exclusively dedicated to the development and advancement of patient-centered health system transformation policies designed to reduce racial, ethnic, and geographic inequities.
