About Frederick E. Owens
For over 25 years, I have focused my career on trial consulting, electronic discovery management, enterprise-level information technology management and cyber incident response. Over these 25 years, much of my experience has run concurrently as I have taken on several roles at once, taking lead on trial preparation while managing on average 40-50 eDiscovery matters at a time.I have consulted on more than 100 trials, specializing in trial and witness preparation, juror evaluation and evidence presentation. Creating opening/closing argument presentations, designing demonstrative materials and managing war room and courtroom technology. My work has contributed to successful trial outcomes and streamlined trial processes.I have successfully worked in all areas of eDiscovery. I possess extensive knowledge of enterprise level technology, the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM), and the Information Governance Reference Model (IGRM). I have managed vendor RFI requests, project budgeting, custodian interviews, data collection oversight, data processing and culling, and analytics-based review and document production. I have managed document review teams and manage an average of 40–50 discovery matters annually.I have worked on internal corporate investigations, responses to cybersecurity incidents and data theft matters. Working with attorneys, IT teams, forensic examiners, and investigators to address client cyber incidents, ensuring a thorough and technically sound response. I have also addressed complex technology issues such as IP identification, IP history, and social media user identification.In the area of eDiscovery, I have provided testimony by affidavit, declaration, or live oral testimony in over 40 cases. My testimony contributed to favorable rulings, reduced litigation costs, and successful resolutions for clients.A member of ACEDS since 2015, I served as president of the board of directors for the ACEDS South Florida Chapter from 2018 to 2024. I have conducted numerous Florida Bar-approved CLE classes on eDiscovery topics covering both federal and Florida standards.In the area of information technology management, I have designed and supervised the deployment of enterprise level technology solutions including various server applications, voice and general business applications, end user technology and applications and have designed and deployed disaster notification, business continuity and disaster recovery processes.
