ABOUT FREDERIC MYNARD

I am a mission-driven academic leader, administrator, and researcher with 25+ years of experience in U.S. higher education. Currently Associate Dean for STEM and Psychology (formally Interim due to fiscal exigency) at New Jersey City University (NJCU), I leverage a bicultural, multilingual background to lead complex academic units and advocate for the Teacher-Scholar model. My leadership is built on scholarly credibility and institutional governance. Key milestones: • Twice-Tenured Leadership: I earned tenure and promotion to Full Professor at two public institutions: Georgia Southern University (GSU) and NJCU. This validates a consistent record of research in General and Categorical Topology, including 46 peer-reviewed publications and a research monograph. • Shared Governance: As former Faculty Senate Moderator and Executive Committee Chair at GSU, I led the primary body of shared governance, negotiating policy changes with the Provost and President and advocating for faculty welfare. • Operations & Strategy: I oversee 1,250 majors, 36 full-time faculty and 100+ adjuncts, managing an $8.5M direct budget and participating in $20M college-wide operating budget decisions. As Math Department Chair, I managed operations and scheduling across multiple campuses. • Institutional Improvement: I prioritize transparent processes; at NJCU, I institutionalized the Department Chairs Handbook to clarify roles and standard operating procedures during a period of significant institutional transition. My mathematics background informs high-level problem-solving and a commitment to a \"Community of Care\" and equity-driven education. I advocate for a model where academic rigor is paired with the holistic support necessary for student success and socio-economic mobility. This is reflected in securing over $1.5M in NSF funding for STEM teacher preparation and mentoring diverse first-generation students through the \"On Pace\" program.A global citizen—born and educated in France (PhD with highest distinction) and a Spanish speaker—I am passionate about bridging diverse academic traditions and expanding the global research footprint through transatlantic partnerships.More on my webpage: https://sites.google.com/site/fredmynardswebpage/
