As an established innovator in the field of optical physics, Frederic Laune has dedicated nearly two decades to advancing liquid lens technology. In 2003, Frederic began work with Varioptic, who, at the time, was a small startup focused on designing liquid lenses “from scratch.” Concentrating initially on R&D, and then on business development, he worked both on product design and customer acquisition. Under his leadership, the business quickly grew into the world’s leading producer of liquid lens technology. After an acquisition in early 2017 by Corning Incorporated, Frederic now leads Corning® Varioptic® Lenses as the business manager, focused on product development, R&D, and customer success. Today, Frederic works to merge Varioptic’s long history of market-leading liquid lens technology with Corning’s unparalleled expertise in glass science, ceramics, and optical physics to develop new products and processes that help transform multiple industries.
