ABOUT FRED STEPHEN
Fred is the founding Partner in James F Stephen Architects + Interior Designers with their main office based in the picturesque and historic village of Glamis, Angus.Married to Rosemary, Managing Partner with both sons also partners in the Practice, he is a Fellow of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland; a member of the RIBA; has been a Juror on several RIAS and RIBA Awards Panels; guest speaker at the RIAS Conventions at St Andrews and also at Stirling University on the 150th Anniversary of the RIAS with his work exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy in 1986.Architectural commissions have taken him to England, Northern Ireland, France, Spain, Italy and Dubai.Fred has been an Architectural Consultant to the National Trust for Scotland, the Real Colegio Escoceses in Salamanca and the Pontifical Scots College in Rome.He was the Partner in Charge during the design and implementation of the Maggies Centre in Dundee designed by the world renowned architect Frank Gehry from Los Angeles.Over many years Fred has had an involvement with the School of Architecture at the University of Dundee and through his experience and award winning buildings the University conferred the position of Honorary Professor of Architecture upon him in 2004.
