About Fred Canney
I am a Strategic Finance Executive with significant experience creating connections between strategy and operations across a variety of financial disciplines. As a Co-Founder, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer for Archer, I am taking this to a new level as we create the next generation, AI/ML backed underwriting, market strategy and predictive insights platform for CRE investors! In 2020, I completed the MBA for Executives program at The Wharton School where I graduated in the top 5% of my class as a Palmer Scholar. Prior to building Archer, I held increasingly complex roles during my career with Newmont Mining (Fortune 500), including 7 months as the Regional CFO (Interim) for Newmont North America. In this capacity, I co-led the establishment of a Strategic Council to improve decision making for the 3-10+ year horizon while leading a turnaround of the Finance organization. With leadership experience spanning Business Development, Financial Planning and Analysis, Strategic Planning, Accounting and Investor Relations, I am a well-rounded leader that is known for creating a collaborative working environment and solving complex challenges while transparently communicating and mitigating risks.BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT:Directed Business Development activities ranging from a $20 million divestment to negotiations for a +$100 million toll milling agreement. Led evaluations of potential acquisition targets ranging from $2 to $350 million.INVESTMENT ANALYSIS & PLANNING:Co-designed and implemented an improved investment management process for Newmont\'s +$7B global project pipeline.
