Experience

1. Conservation Manager

   Blue Mountain Land Trust

   Oct 2023 — Present

   Project lead on all BMLT conservation acquisitions. Managed and completed title review, conservation easement negotiation, baseline, management plan, Phase 1 ESA, and other due diligence items.~ Purchased an 11.53-acre farmland property within the City of College Place to aid local food security and community resilience. Hired pro bono attorneys to provide an opinion on the legal right to farm, formed an LLC to own and hold the property for liability protection, secured low-interest loan and conservation easement funding, and developed an 8-year budget model to project cash flow.~ Closed three conservation easements, protecting nearly 980 acres of foodplain habitat and 25 acres of prime farmland.~ Reformed BMLT\'s conservation project selection framework to add an empirical and data-driven prioritization framework utilizing federal and state data sources on habitats, species, and soils. Developing projects on acres in the Blue Mountains of Washington and Oregon.~ Secured $4.85 million of grant funding for acquisitions through federal, state, and carbon credit sources.~ Served as the primary representative in landowner negotiations for conservation easements and property acquisitions.~ Chair of BMLT Conservation Committee.~ Assisted with donor outreach, community engagement, and fundraising to support BMLT’s mission.~ Participated as a member of the Washington Association of Land Trusts (WALT) Advocacy Committee to support statewide conservation initiatives.~ Maintained relationships with landowners, Tribes, nonprofits, government agencies, and other conservation professionals.~ Integrated Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ) principles into BMLT’s acquisition priorities and conservation work.
