As Dean, Fraser leads the strategic direction of the School, with a focus on financial sustainability, global recognition, academic quality and long-term organisational resilience. Under his leadership, the School is shaping and embedding the Management School of the Future: a School built for the century ahead. He has established a refreshed senior leadership team, introduced simpler and more accountable structures and workload frameworks, and worked closely with Faculty and central University colleagues to support a comprehensive review of the School’s leadership, organisation and education portfolio.He also places strong emphasis on student experience, research excellence, innovation in teaching and learning, internationalisation and income diversification. During this period, the School has secured five-year EQUIS reaccreditation, progressed AMBA reaccreditation, advanced curriculum renewal through review of the MBA and undergraduate portfolio, and introduced new MSc programmes in Digital Marketing, Business Analytics, and Financial Technology and Innovation. He has also strengthened the embedding of employability within teaching and learning, supported international and domestic student recruitment, expanded the School’s contribution through external engagement and knowledge exchange, and is helping prepare the School for REF 2029 by strengthening the research environment, with greater emphasis on grant capture and impact.

Fraser McLeay is Dean and Professor of Marketing at Sheffield University Management School at the University of Sheffield, a world top-100 Russell Group university with a global reputation for excellence.He is an award-winning academic, strategic leader and business-facing practitioner with an international career spanning senior leadership across universities and the private sector, encompassing research, executive education, entrepreneurship and commercialisation.At Sheffield, Fraser has led strategic and organisational change to strengthen quality, performance and sustainability. He has shaped the School’s “Management School for the Future” vision and strengthened alignment with central University teams to support international partnerships and postgraduate recruitment. Under his leadership, the School secured five-year EQUIS accreditation for the first time and maintained its prestigious Triple Crown status, placing it within the global elite of business and management schools.Across his career, Fraser has secured research and enterprise funding from external organisations including UK research councils such as the EPSRC, ESRC, and AHRC. His work has received international recognition, including a Wiley Top Cited Paper Award, the Martin Oppermann Article of the Year Award, Emerald’s Citations of Excellence Award, and the State of Montana Governor’s Excellence in Export Award, where he was named Export Advocate of the Year.Fraser has spent eight years in senior leadership roles at Sheffield, including as Dean, Associate Dean of Education, and Head of Department. Before this, he held senior roles at Northumbria University and Newcastle Business School, including Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor of Strategic Planning and Engagement, Associate Dean Business and Engagement, Head of Corporate and Executive Development, and Professor of Strategic Marketing Management.He also has substantial global private-sector experience, including senior roles at the Montana World Trade Center, the business outreach arm of the University of Montana. Across academia and industry, he has worked with more than 250 businesses in over 60 countries, supporting start-up, commercialisation, business expansion, export growth, branding and strategic development. His work spans sectors including technology, renewable energy, engineering, agri-food and environmental services, and his clients have ranged from SMEs to MNEs and public bodies, including Nestlé, Royal Numico, Parker, Thomas Swan, Bank of Montana, Sage, UKTI, Nexus, Greggs, the World Bank, USDA and the EU.
