WORK HISTORY
Software Engineer @WoodmenLife
Omaha, NE, US
As a software engineer at WoodmenLife, I am committed to developing high-quality code that aligns with customer requirements, prioritizing simplicity, clarity, and testability. Additionally, I assume a leadership role by mentoring fellow engineers in the development and implementation of technical solutions. I am responsible for estimating the scope of work and forecasting for development stories and tasks, while strictly adhering to established architectural and security standards as well as industry best practices. I model the implementation of unit and integration tests and conduct functional and performance testing as necessary. I also provide on-call support for designated WoodmenLife systems when required and proactively investigate and propose solutions to development and design challenges. As a coach and mentor, I support less experienced software engineers and develop stories for technically focused deliverables. Furthermore, I collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure a clear understanding of functional requirements and work alongside other technical leaders to comprehend and implement non-functional requirements— Eliminated third-party dependencies by developing an in-house policy illustration system using HTML/CSS templates, a custom rules engine, and JSON integration, resulting in increased flexibility and control over the illustration process— Spearheaded the modernization of 27 legacy C# platforms to.NET 8, enhancing security, scalability, and maintainability while reducing technical debt across the organization— Architected and implemented ADO pipelines for static code analysis on.NET 8 platforms deploying to OpenShift, elevating code quality and security standards organization-wide. — Drove the creation of a Software Engineering Community of Practice, leading to increased cross-team innovations and improvements in project delivery times.
