About Frank V. Galitski

Established and managed an alliance of physician’s groups, medical liability insurance companies, senior hospital management, Texas business community and civil justice reformers. Authored a strategic plan to address the Texas’ medical liability insurance crisis. Enacted legislation placing a financial cap on non-economic damages on health care lawsuits, resulting in an estimated 20% reduction in Texas’ medical liability rates. Subsequently, physicians once again began practicing in high-risk specialties. Texas’ Level 1 Trauma unit started being fully staffed. A six-year legislative effort passing legislation banning the practice of “texting while driving” in Texas. According to the Texas Department of Transportation, approximately twenty percent of car crashes in Texas are caused by “distracted driving” resulting some 450 deaths annually. It is estimated more than serious injuries were prevented in the first year the law was in effect. Hail claims litigation reforms mitigated the growing trend of frivolous severe weather event lawsuits. The legislation reduced the frequency of weather-related lawsuits against property insurers by a projected 140% since passage. The bill also reduced unnecessary litigation costs by an estimated $170 million industry wide.
