   Characterizing thermofluid performance and effects of gravity and orientation in two-phase microgap coolers for embedded thermal management of spaceflight systems, such as 3D integrated circuits, power electronics, lasers, fuel cells, and power generation systems; includes design, analysis, and testing of terrestrial and suborbital flight experiments built around embedded microgap coolers; technology successfully demonstrated on multiple flights aboard the Blue Origin New Shepard launch vehicle Studying experimental and flight heat pipe and loop heat pipe performance and behavior, covering operating temperatures from 2 to 330 K and working fluids of helium, neon, ethane, propylene and ammonia; includes on-orbit operations of the ICESat-2 ATLAS Laser Thermal Control System Assessing capabilities of electrically driven flows in single- and two-phase heat transfer applications for bulk liquid pumping and thin film evaporation; includes multiple experiments aboard variable gravity aircraft and sounding rockets Validating performance of electrical and mechanical hardware in thermal vacuum environments, including operation, control, and maintenance of thermal vacuum chambers with environment temperatures of 2 to 420 K and pressures down to 1E-9 Torr; expertise in vacuum chambers, pumps, valves, cryocoolers, cryogens, chillers, instrumentation, and control systems Serving as Research Collaborator for the NASA Space Technology Research Fellowship program and technical reviewer for the Small Business Innovation Research thermal subtopic Mentoring college-level summer interns on two-phase heat transfer, thermal vacuum technology, and spaceflight systems
