About Frank J. Penedo
With over 20 years of experience in clinical psychology and behavioral medicine, I am passionate about advancing cancer survivorship research and practice. As the Center Associate Director for Population Sciences at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and Director of Cancer Survivorship and Supportive Care, I lead a multidisciplinary team of researchers, clinicians, and community partners to address the needs and challenges of diverse cancer survivors and their families. I also hold the Sylvester DCC Living Proof Endowed Professorship in Cancer Survivorship at the University of Miami, where I teach, mentor, conduct research and collaborate with students and faculty across disciplines and departments.In my previous role as the Professor and Program Leader at Northwestern University, I established and directed the Cancer Survivorship Institute and the Cancer Control and Survivorship Research Program, which were nationally recognized for their innovative and impactful work. I have contributed to multiple peer-reviewed publications, patents, and grants on topics such as psychosocial interventions, quality of life, health disparities, and digital health. I have also received several awards and honors for my excellence in research, teaching, and service. I have extensive skills in psychology, psychotherapy, health psychology, and cancer survivorship, and I am fluent in English and Spanish.
