As a 3D Intern, I am gaining hands-on experience with cutting-edge techniques and best practices across all steps of the 3D pipeline, including planning, acquisition, processing, distribution, data management, and documentation. This internship is designed for those with no prior experience in 3D technologies, allowing me to build a strong foundation in this exciting field.Key Responsibilities:Process 2D photo sets into 3D objects using state-of-the-art photogrammetry software in IU\'s high-performance computing environment.Digitize and create 3D models of sculptures and other cultural and scientific artifacts using 2D photogrammetry and structured light scanners.Collaborate on creating virtual tours of various IU physical spaces, including building interiors, exteriors, and terrains, utilizing technologies such as Matterport, LiDAR, 360 imaging, and drone-based photogrammetry.Work alongside faculty and students to digitize objects, supporting student coursework and faculty research and creative activities.Document techniques and workflows to develop future learning opportunities for IU students, faculty, and staff.This experience is enhancing my skills in 3D modeling and digital asset creation while providing valuable insights into the integration of technology in academic and research settings.
