My key passions and some current responsibilities as Assistant Headteacher are as follows- The application of cognitive psychology research to education- Stretching and enriching \'gifted\' students- Mindfulness (I am a qualified trainer and the lead on this in my current post)- Metacognition- Promoting memory enhancement techniques for the curriculum and the classroom- SMSC (Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural) – such things as Assemblies, ‘Wise Thoughts’, Mindfulness courses,\'Britsh Values\' and so forth- Growth Mindset- Running CPD on Curriculum Design, Pedagogy, and Memory- Utilising Mentalism and Magic to occasionally enhance teaching (Yes, this is fun!)- Mentoring trainees in our noble profession- Advising colleagues on how to teach Philosophy and R.S. to children and teenagers- Promoting cultural capital, specifically Literature, Music and other Arts- Advising students on how to access the best Universities- Promoting Feminism and the aspirations of young women (my current post is in an all girls’ school)

My current and recent leadership responsibilities include:• Teaching & Learning• AI and \'Pedtech\' training and planning• SMSC• Performance Management and Appraisal• Mental Health and Wellbeing (trained Senior Mental Health Lead)• Equality and British Values• Examinations• School Council• Student Leaders – Mental Health and Human Rights Ambassadors• Bullying• Personnel systems (e.g. staff duties, internal exclusion rotas)• Line-management of: o Science Department (Bio, Chem, Physics) o History & Politics Department o Classics & Latin Department o Pastoral Year Group (currently Year 9) o Cover SupervisorsMy goal is to help build an evidence-informed school culture that nurtures informed, critical, imaginative, caring, and emotionally mature young people.
