Dr. Azocar is Vice President of Research and Evaluation of Behavioral Health Sciences at OptumHealth Behavioral Solutions formerly United Behavioral Health. At OptumHealth, she has conducted research on the dissemination of practice guidelines for the treatment of depression within managed behavioral healthcare, particularly on workplace depression, depression among Medicaid hard-to-employ members, telephonic care management and outreach to depressed chronically-ill medical patients, development of patient-reported outcome measures and impact of feedback reports, development of evidence-based psychotherapy measures, and impact of clinical interventions on service utilization and costs. She is currently involved in several NIH-funded studies including studies on depression in the workplace, autism spectrum disorders, and the impact of the Mental Health and Addiction Equity act (AKA parity) on access, utilization and costs. At San Francisco General Hospital (UCSF) Dr. Azocar’s research and clinical work focused on the treatment of depression in disadvantaged general medicine and ob/gyn patients, particularly with Spanish-speaking young women Dr. Azocar received her doctorate from UC Berkeley and an NIMH Clinical Services Research Post-Doctoral Fellowship at UCSF. She is a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of California.
