Ensures compliance with FAR Parts 77, 139 and TSR Part 1542. Inspects airport facilities including runways, taxiways, ramps, perimeter fencing and buildings for safety or security issues and initiates corrective action. Issues appropriate Notices to Airman (NOTAMs) when hazards exist and initiates the closure of all or parts of the airport if necessary. Responds to aircraft accident/incident and other emergency situations that occur on airport property, coordinates activities, and implements airport emergency plan or airport security plan measures if required. Implements and coordinates snow removal activities in accordance with airport snow and ice control plan. Participates in Airport Certification Manual and Airport Emergency Plans revisions and updates. Participates in review of Construction Safety and Phasing Plans for construction occurring on the airport to be sure they are consistent with FAR Part 139 requirements. Participates in revision and updates of Ground Vehicle Operator Training Programs. Maintains required training records for airport operations department and air carrier mechanics who taxi an aircraft on the movement area. Provides driver training classes in accordance with Ground Vehicle Operator Training Programs. Coordinates and maintains airport operations department training curriculum to stay current with appropriate airport certification regulations and standards.
