ABOUT FRANCINE WEISS
A collaborative visionary with 20 years of experience as a museum administrator, curator, and professor. I have experience managing budgets, overseeing large endowment and acquisition funds, managing staff, working on strategic plans, fundraising and nurturing donor relationships, producing high-level exhibitions, and fostering partnerships. Currently the Director of Curatorial Affairs & Chief Curator at the Newport Art Museum in RI, I have worked for the National Gallery of Art, Harvard Art Museums, Museum of Fine Arts Boston, and deCordova Museum among others. I have taught at Wellesley College, Boston University, Simmons College, and New England College. A broadly trained art historian with specialized knowledge of photography, contemporary and American art, I have a strong record of publications and public speaking. I am deeply committed to DEAI in programming, staffing, acquisitions, and work culture.
