ABOUT FRANCESCO AGOSTINELLI
I grew up in the beautiful agricultural landscape of the Marche hills, in contact with nature in all its forms, developing a strong involvement, both emotional and activist, in the issues of environmental pollution and climate change. My introduction to the world of wine was guided by my parents who, from an early age, made me accustomed to its taste and aroma, introducing me to the understanding on how there is much more behind every glass of Bacchus\' nectar than just liquid. Passionate about scientific knowledge, I decided to enrol at the Liceo Scientifico Leonardo Da Vinci in Jesi where, after graduating, I found myself having to choose between embarking on a university course in Astrophysics or throwing myself into Viticulture and Oenology. My love for this world forced my hand, and so I began to deepen my knowledge of oenology with a Bachelor\'s degree in Viticulture and Oenology at the University of Turin, based in Alba (Piedmont), and came into contact with various realities in my area. I did internships in Piedmont, Valle D\'Aosta, Marche and Sicily and, after graduating, I decided to gain experience by working for a year as a laboratory technician and assistant oenologist in the Umani Ronchi S.p.A. company. My desire for knowledge, however, moved me to continue my studies with a double Master\'s Degree in collaboration with the University of Turin and the Instituto Superior de Agronomia of the University of Lisbon, specialising in Viticulture and Oenology Engineering, where I further explored issues related to climate change and its impact on the wine-growing system, and where I graduated with top marks and a research thesis at the Instituto Nacional de Investigação Agrária e Veterinária, I.P. The WSET level 3 Award in wine and the role of speaker for an association of Eno-cultural dissemination have broadened my knowledge of this magnificent world. Discovering the various forms and characteristics of the viticulture and oenology sector is the driving force behind the choices to build my future.
