ABOUT FRANCESCA MAZZILLI

My main research interests are religion, pottery, critical theory, networks, landscape, and digital archaeology. I use diverse geographical, theoretical, and analytical lenses to explore themes of cultural interaction, networks and identities. My research geographical areas include the Near East, the Iberian Peninsula, Britain and southern Italy from the Iron Age to the Roman period.I am currently expanding my Marie Sklodowska-Curie postdoctoral project RENE, which I undertook at the University of Bergen (and University of Coimbra as secondment) on regional religious networks in southern Syria and Lusitania in southern Italy (RENEL South) at the University of Bari Aldo Moro, with a primary emphasis on landscape.Previously, I was a WiRe (Women in Research) Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institut für Klassische und Christliche Archäologie, University of Münster, working on a project on the Iron Age votive deposit at Garvão, south of Portugal.I have been teaching Classical Archaeology and History at Royal Holloway, University of London; King\'s College London; the universities of Oxford (Continuing Education), Münster, Bergen, and Durham.I have worked as a Roman pottery specialist at the Cambridge Archaeological Unit, University of Cambridge (20••••20) and as a freelancer. I worked as an illustrator on various archaeological projects and publications both in the UK and Italy. I have also pursued my passion for the creative arts, creating posters, flyers and altered photographs for theatre and dance shows in London, UK, and China for the last 7 years (including projects funded by the Arts Council).
