About Csenka Favorini-Csorba

I am a motivated, thoughtful leader with over a decade of experience designing and implementing landscape strategies to transform the health of forests and communities and effect sector-level change in natural resource management. From tackling Indigenous rights violations and threats to endangered caribou in British Columbia, to shedding light on how systemic racism manifests in the Southeast US forestry industry, I have a demonstrated ability to make meaningful progress against complex,\"wicked\" problems. For six years, I partnered with Chief Sustainability Officers and VPs of Sustainability as they developed and implemented responsible sourcing programs. I provided strategic guidance as these companies worked to continuously improve and ensure that their global supply chains reached high environmental and social standards. In my role as Policy Director at the Washington State Department of Natural Resources, I collaborated with a broad range of internal staff, external stakeholders, and Tribal Nations, to co-create evidence-based policies, strategic plans, and legislation that led to increased climate resilience, accelerated progress towards GHG emissions reductions goals, and centered environmental justice outcomes.I am passionate about empathetic team leadership and was fortunate to lead a fantastic team of Policy Advisors, with diverse subject matter expertise ranging from affordable housing, to watershed resilience, clean energy development, ecosystem services, and the bioeconomy. I provided mentorship and guidance as they developed strategic policies, tackled internal and external stakeholder dynamics, launched and managed major initiatives, and responded to emerging and evolving agency priorities.

   King Conservation District

   May 2023 — Present

   County-wide elected office. Contribute local perspectives on important natural resource management and conservation issues, set KCD policy, direct KCD’s work plan and $15 million budget, and seek feedback about conservation programs from District residents. Unanimously elected to be Vice Chair by the Board in 2025.
