About Frances Thorndike
Experienced Vice President with a demonstrated history of developing, evaluating, and disseminating evidence-based digital therapeutics and the clinical and health outcomes that document their efficacy. Led clinical effort resulting in FDA-authorization of Somryst, the first FDA-authorized prescription digital therapeutic for chronic insomnia. Skilled in leading cross-functional teams to develop digitally-delivered treatments for pediatric and adult populations, as well as the evidence behind these products. In addition to insomnia, interventions have targeted the management of type 1 diabetes, substance use disorders, depression, chemotherapy, cancer distress, encopresis, and melanoma. Lead Medical Affairs team, communicating the evidence behind digital therapeutics to both scientific and lay audiences. Work closely with government affairs colleagues, meeting with federal and state lawmakers to explain the value and health economics of digital therapies. Design and conduct randomized controlled trials for digital therapeutics. Interpret, publish, and present findings of these RCTs. Experience in both academic medicine and industry. Previous positions have included: co-founder and chief science officer, BeHealth Solutions, a startup and commercial pathway for evidence-based digital therapeutics; faculty member, University of Virginia Medical Center. Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology; 3-year postdoctoral fellowship in Medical Psychology, Behavioral Health and Technology.
