ABOUT FOUAD E.
Dr. EL-KARNICHI is an international scholar and practitioner with extensive academic and industry experience across Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa. Currently at Sohar University in Oman, he teaches Audiovisual Translation, Post-editing, and Translation Studies, while also designing innovative training programs in digital education and leading student internships locally and abroad.Previously, he held senior positions at the Saudi Electronic University and Sultan Qaboos University, where he advanced e-learning and technology-driven translation training. His academic career further includes contributions to Qatar University, King Khaled University, King Abdul Aziz University, and Moroccan institutions, specializing in pedagogy and digital education in multilingual contexts. Beyond academia, he has over a decade of freelance and project management experience in translation, as well as in-house roles with the Qatar Red Cross and AIDMO ( Morocco), providing valuable real-world insight to his teaching.Dr. EL-KARNICHI also brings corporate experience from his early career at IBM UK and GLAD SERVE, which enriched his expertise in international business and cross-cultural communication. Since 2017, he has served voluntarily as Educational Program Director for TESOL Canada in the Gulf and North Africa, leading professional development initiatives in yeacher education. His training portfolio includes workshops on AI and Generative AI literacy, freelancing skills, and online translation project management.A recipient of the Qatar Foundation Fellowship, his research focuses on integrating artificial intelligence into translation education and examining the societal impact of digital technologies in learning contexts. He has published in peer reviewd as well as Scopus-indexed journals, with recent work addressind tools in translation training, reflective teaching practices, AI in the context of multilingual education and teacher well-being in higher education across the GCC.
