ABOUT LANCE FORTNOW

Academic leader and computational theorist exploring how AI reshapes our understanding of what computers can and cannot do. As founding dean of Illinois Tech\'s College of Computing, I built the university\'s largest college, with over students. I created an environment where theory meets practice in a vastly changing computing landscape, growing degrees in artificial intelligence, data science and cybersecurity. My research in computational complexity—particularly how AI challenges classical questions about the limits of computation—informs my writing for both academic and public audiences. Through my books, articles and blog, I translate cutting-edge computer science into insights that matter for education and society\'s future.
