ABOUT THOMAS FORNER

CEO and co-founder of Focused Energy – the world’s leading laser fusion company and the team behind the world’s first laser fusion power plant, to be built in Germany by 2035. After 20+ years in the tech startup world, I’m now focused on building something entirely new: a fusion industry ecosystem. At Focused Energy, we are developing a safe, clean, and independent energy source for mankind based on modern laser technology. Our motivation: Not only does fusion energy close the future energy gap reliably, but it also enables additional markets to commercialize our technology early on — paving the way for new innovations in areas like non-destructive testing and neutron applications. Our team builds on the scientific breakthrough at the National Ignition Facility in 2022 — the first-ever fusion shot with net energy gain. Now we’re turning this into an engineering challenge: designing the laser fusion systems, targets, and reactors that will power the world.
